This newsletter is to keep you informed of the events of our church during the month of October 2017.
We look forward to your participation with us in the abundant life that our Lord so graciously provides.
We give thanks to God for protecting us during the Jolly Mountain Fire. We are deeply appreciative to all the fire fighters who risked their lives. The crisis brought our community together and reminded us of what is most important in life.
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? During the month of October, Pastor Paul will be preaching on the Gospel, helping us understand from the Bible what the good news of God is, and its transforming power for our lives.
THE GOSPEL-CENTERED LIFE, our discussion-oriented adult learning fellowship, will have its final lesson in the series, this Sunday, October 8th, looking at how the gospel provides us a pattern and means for healthy conflict resolution. All are invited.
OCTOBER MEETING OF THE SESSION: The elders will meet Wednesday, October 11th at 3 PM. Please remember to pray for your leaders as we seek to discern and carry out our Lord’s calling for us as a church.
THE MEN’S GROUP will begin a new study on Wednesday, October 11th, at 6:30 PM. We will be looking at the life of Martin Luther and the movement he unintentionally helped to begin 500 years ago, that transformed the Church and became known as the Reformation.
ROSLYN PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN will meet on Wednesday, October 18th, at 1 PM, for a fall frolic. We will take a short, three blocks walk (or you may feel free to drive) over to Pioneer Park where we will enjoy a dessert and devotions together under the covered pavilion. Sorry, no men allowed!
ALL CHURCH CIDER PRESS: The entire congregation is invited to a Cider Press and Luncheon at the Lund’s home on October 28 at 11 AM. Please come to join in all the fun of squeezing fresh apple cider, sharing in a luncheon, and enjoying other fall activities. The apples will be provided to press, and hot dogs and chili will be provided for lunch. All you need to bring is a fresh container for your cider, and either a salad or dessert for the luncheon. This is a wonderful event. You won’t want to miss it!
REFORMATION DAY: We will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation on Sunday, October 29th.
FARM FRESH EGGS: The Ditman’s have eggs available for $2 per dozen (UEGB). They will deliver orders to the church on Sundays. Ask them what “UEGB” means.
THANK YOU! The Building and Grounds team – Sam Krahenbuhl, Loel Labberton, and Glen Stehl – are wrapping up another season of mowing our church lawns. We appreciate all your hard work in keeping our grounds beautiful!
FOOD BANK DONATIONS: Please bring your donations of food for area needy, the first Sunday of the month, and place in the wicker basket in the foyer.
Please let Pastor Paul know of any announcements you have for the newsletter by the last Sunday of the month preceding publication.
