CALL TO WORSHIP: Elder Susan Colts
“I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.” (Ps 27:6)
“Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!” (Ps 32:11)
“Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to Him with the harp of ten strings!
Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. For the word of the Lord is upright, and all His work is done in faithfulness. (Ps. 33:1-4)
“Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!” (Ps 47:1)
“Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of His Name; give to Him glorious praise!” (Ps 66:1–2)
“My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to You; my soul also, which You have redeemed.” (Ps 71:23)
“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His Name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.” (Ps 29:2)
.
HYMN OF PRAISE: “O God Beyond All Praising”
O God beyond all praising,
we worship you today
and sing the love amazing
that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder
at every gift you send,
at blessings without number
and mercies without end:
we lift our hearts before you
and wait upon your word,
we honour and adore you,
our great and mighty Lord.
.
The flower of earthly splendor
in time must surely die,
its fragile bloom surrender to you,
the Lord most high;
but hidden from all nature
the eternal seed is sown
though small in mortal stature,
to heaven’s garden grown;
for Christ the man from heaven
from death has set us free,
and we through him
are given the final victory.
.
Then hear, O gracious Saviour,
accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favour
may serve you as our king;
and whether our tomorrows
be filled with good or ill,
we’ll triumph through our sorrows
and rise to bless you still:
to marvel at your beauty
and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty
our sacrifice of praise.
.
INVOCATION: In Unison
LORD, You are the Rock upon which we stand and mighty to save! We welcome the Holy Spirit to come and be a part of us. We ask that He quicken our hearts and allow Your Word to be the double-edged sword – piercing to the division of our soul and spirit as it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hear us this day as we rejoice in You and proclaim Your name among the nations!
.

Ten thousand years
And then forevermore
Forevermore

CONFESSING OUR SIN TOGETHER: In Unison
Almighty and most merciful Father; I confess to You, I confess with my whole heart, my neglect and forgetfulness of Your commandments, my wrong doing, thinking, and speaking; the hurts I have done to others, and the good I have left undone. My God, for love of You, I desire to hate and forsake all sins by which I have ever displeased You; and I resolve by the help of Your grace to commit them no more; and to avoid all opportunities of sin. Help me to do this, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Please use the next few moments for quiet reflection and confession of sins to God.
.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
“With everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer. “I am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake.”
.
THE READING OF GOD’S WORD: Pastor Geoffrey Brown
Psalm 51; Philippians 2:1-11
.
OFFERING OF OUR GIFTS TO GOD FOR RPC MINISTRY & MISSION:
OFFERTORY: “Beautiful One,” arr. Wolaver
.
DOXOLOGY:
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise him all creatures here below
Praise him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise father, son, and holy ghost
.
HYMN OF ADORATION: “In Christ Alone”
In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
.
In Christ alone! – who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
.
No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
