CELEBRATE THE DAY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AROSE FROM THE DEAD
LITURGY
BIBLE SENTENCE:
For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we shall certainly be united with Him in a resurrection like His. We know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. (Romans 6:5-6)
CALL TO WORSHIP:
Alleluia! The lord is risen!
Jesus Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this we rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, we have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of our faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Though we have not seen Him, we love Him. Though we do not now see Him, we believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of our faith, the salvation of our souls.” (I Peter 1: 3–9)
Alleluia! The Lord is risen!
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
HYMN OF JUBILATION:
INVOCATION:
“Lord, we will sing of Your steadfast love forever. Let the heavens praise Your wonders, O Lord. You are a God greatly to be feared, awesome above all who are around You. Blessed are we who walk in the light of Your face, who exult in Your name all the day. For You have placed Your faithfulness and steadfast love on us, and You have promised never to remove it. Blessed be Your name forever!” Amen. (From Psalm 89)
HYMN OF PRAISE:
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Almighty and most merciful Father; we confess to You that we have not loved You with our whole heart. O God, for love of You, we desire to put to death all sins by which we displease You; and resolve by the Holy Spirit, to replace these remnants of our old person, with the resurrection life of Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore, trusting in Your forgiveness, we rely upon the strengthening grace that is ours through the shed blood, and crucified, risen body of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Take the next few moments to silently confess your sins that you might know the joy of restored life in Him
WORDS OF COMFORT:
Hear the Good News! Christ Jesus personally bore our sins in His body on the Cross, so that we might be dead to sin and be alive to all that is good. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!
THE READING OF THE WORD:
Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, ‘They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.’ So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that He must rise from the dead. (John 20:1-9)
Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The One sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness, He judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems, and He has a name written that no one knows but Himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh, He has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. (Revelation 19:11-16)
