Our Annual Congregational Meeting is called for next Sunday, January 26, at 10:00 am, immediately following worship. This brief business meeting gives members the opportunity to elect corporation officers, a class of elders, and the Congregational Nominating Committee for 2014. The Annual Reports and budget will be available for information. Please attend the meeting next Sunday.
Attenders: Are you interested in becoming church members? To fully belong and to have your voice be counted in church votes, you need to join Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church. Pastor Berkley is seeking attenders interested in joining, in order to best plan for a brief series of New Member Classes to be held in the next couple of months. To register your interest, please phone Jim (649-3572) or e-mail him (jimberkley@roslynchurch.org).
The state of dismissal to ECO: Many of the tasks needed to be accomplished before the Presbytery of Central Washington is free to dismiss our congregation to the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO) have been completed. An Administrative Commission from the presbytery is meeting with us to finalize all actions, leading to a vote on our dismissal by presbytery on February 22. If that vote goes as planned, and we expect it to, the final papers will be signed on March 31, transferring us to ECO. There we will be joining fellow Presbyterian churches from our area that have preceded us into ECO, such as the Presbyterian churches in Ellensburg, Moses Lake, Yakima, Prosser, Richland, Waitsburg, and Walla Walla. Life in our congregation will be largely unchanged, but we will be associated with like-minded, faithful, Bible-believing Presbyterians in ECO, and we will be encouraged and stimulated to reach out with the Good News.
Our session meets this Tuesday afternoon. The elders will be examined by conference call by a team from ECO, preparing for our admittance as a congregation into that denomination. The session also has budget matters and a church name change (required by presbytery) to consider. Please pray for them.
