*CALL TO WORSHIP: Elder Marylou Rossman
I am the person who has seen affliction under the rod of His wrath.
Remember my affliction and wanderings, the wormwood and gall!
My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me.
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.
For the LORD will not cast off forever, but, though He cause grief, He will have compassion according to the abundance of His steadfast love. Great is Your faithfulness! (Lamentations 3)
.
*HYMN OF PRAISE: “Praise the Lord! Ye Heavens, Adore Him,” #82
1 Praise the Lord! ye heav’ns, adore him;
Praise him angels, in the height;
Sun and moon, rejoice before him;
Praise him, all ye stars of light.
Praise the Lord! for he has spoken;
Worlds his mighty voice obeyed;
Laws which never shall be broken
For their guidance he has made.
.
2 Praise the Lord! for he is glorious;
Never shall his promise fail;
God has made his saints victorious;
Sin and death shall not prevail.
Praise the God of our salvation!
Hosts on high his pow’r proclaim;
Heav’n, and earth, and all creation,
Laud and magnify his name.
.
3 Worship, honor, glory, blessing,
Lord, we offer unto thee;
Young and old, thy praise expressing,
In glad homage bend the knee.
All the saints in heav’n adore thee,
We would bow before thy throne;
As thine angels serve before thee,
So on earth thy will be done.
.
*INVOCATION: In Unison
Almighty God, You so kindly call on us daily by Your voice, meekly and calmly to offer ourselves to be ruled by You. You exalt us to a high place of honor by freeing us from the dread of the devil, and favor us with the Spirit of adoption and of hope. Come, Holy Spirit, lead us in our gratitude to worship this day in truth and in light to proclaim Your glory in Christ Jesus, our exalted Lord and King!
.
*HYMN OF WORSHIP: “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing,” #21
1 O for a thousand tongues to sing
my great Redeemer’s praise,
the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of his grace!
.
2 My gracious Master and my God,
assist me to proclaim,
to spread thro’ all the earth abroad
the honors of your name.
.
3 Jesus! the name that charms our fears,
that bids our sorrows cease,
’tis music in the sinner’s ears,
’tis life and health and peace.
.
4 He breaks the power of canceled sin,
he sets the prisoner free;
his blood can make the foulest clean;
his blood availed for me.
.
5 To God all glory, praise, and love
be now and ever given
by saints below and saints above,
the Church in earth and heaven.
.
CONFESSING OUR SIN TOGETHER: In Unison
Gracious Father, You grant us the gift of faith yet we so often feel frightened and fearful. You call us to trust in You yet we so often put our trust in things or people here on earth. We repent of these sins and ask You to strengthen our hearts and minds to focus on Your sovereign power over all things and the victory we have in Jesus Christ our Lord. Please use the next few moments for quiet reflection and confession of sins to God.
.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
God does freely pardon all those who confess and turn to Him through the perfect sacrifice of Christ Jesus, our Lord.

*CLOSING SONG: “Blessed Assurance,” #572
1 Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.
Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior, all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
2 Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending, bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love. [Refrain]
.
3 Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love. [Refrain]
