“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His Name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.” (Psalm 29:2)
SONG OF PRAISE: “I Will Sing of My Redeemer”
1 I will sing of my Redeemer and his wondrous love to me;
on the cruel cross he suffered, from the curse to set me free.
Sing, O sing of my Redeemer! With his blood he purchased me;
on the cross he sealed my pardon, paid the debt, and made me free.
2 I will tell the wondrous story, how my lost estate to save,
in his boundless love and mercy, he the ransom freely gave.
I will praise my dear Redeemer, his triumphant power I’ll tell:
how the victory he gives me over sin and death and hell.
3 I will sing of my Redeemer and his heavenly love for me;
he from death to life has brought me, Son of God, with him to be.
Sing, O sing of my Redeemer! With his blood he purchased me;
on the cross he sealed my pardon, paid the debt, and made me free.
INVOCATION:
We praise You, heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. We praise the Son through His own work and we praise You by the power of the Spirit who is given by the Lord Jesus Christ from the right hand of His Father. O God, receive our worship, meet with us, teach us from Your word, strengthen our hearts and make the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts to be acceptable in Your sight through our rock and our redeemer, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
HYMN OF WORSHIP: “Grace Greater than All Our Sing”
1 Marvelous grace of our loving Lord, Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount out-poured–There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.
Refrain:
Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin!
2 Sin and despair, like the sea-waves cold, Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater– yes, grace untold–Points to the Refuge, the mighty Cross. [Refrain]
3 Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace, Freely bestowed on all who believe!
All who are longing to see His face, Will you this moment His grace receive? [Refrain]
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
My dear heavenly Father, You know the depths of my sorrow over my sin. Even though it’s painful, this sorrow is a gift of grace. Thank You for granting me a fresh awareness of my sin before a holy God. Restore my penitent heart, according to Your promises. Let us take the next few moments to silently confess our sins that we might know the joy of restored life in Christ.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
THE READING OF GOD’S WORD: Pastor Geoffrey Brown
OT: Judges 16:23-31; NT: Matthew 3:1-12
PRAYER FOR THE PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE: Susan Sandeno
OFFERING OF OUR GIFTS TO GOD FOR RPC MINISTRY & MISSION
OFFERTORY: “Prelude No. 1,” arr. J.S. Bach
DOXOLOGY:
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow; praise Him all creatures here below.
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen
HYMN OF ADORATION: “There Is a Fountain”
1 There is a fountain filled with blood, Drawn from Immanuel’s veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood Lose all their guilty stains:
Lose all their guilty stains, Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood Lose all their guilty stains.
2 The dying thief rejoiced to see That fountain in His day;
And there have I, though vile as he, Washed all my sins away:
Washed all my sins away, Washed all my sins away;
And there have I, though vile as he, Washed all my sins away.
3 Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood Shall never lose its pow’r,
Till all the ransomed church of God Are safe, to sin no more:
Are safe, to sin no more, Are safe, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed church of God Are safe, to sin no more.
4 E’er since by faith I saw the stream Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die:
And shall be till I die, And shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme, And shall be till I die.
5 When this poor, lisping, stamm’ring tongue Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save:
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save, I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save;
Then in a nobler, sweeter song, I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save.

SONG OF COMMUNION: “Praise the One Who Breaks the Darkness”
1 Praise the One who break the darkness with a liberating light.
Praise the One who frees the prisoners turning blindness into sight.
Praise the One who preached the Gospel healing every dread disease.
Calming storms and feeding thousands with the very bread of peace.
2 Praise the One who blessed the children with a strong yet gentle word.
Praise the One who drove out demons with a piercing two-edged sword.
Praise the one who brings cool water to the desert’s burning sand.
From this well comes living water quenching thirst in every land.
3 Praise the one true love incarnate: Christ who suffered in our place.
Jesus died and rose for many that we may know God by grace.
Let us sing for joy and gladness seeing what our God has done.
