The Spaghetti Dinner a week ago was a great success.
We particularly thank Kathy Juris for the home-made spaghetti sauce, Tom Burrows for procuring abundant salad bar ingredients, the children who served the guests, and all the women of Mt. Pisgah Women, who all labored so hard to make the evening go so well. We greeted many friends and netted $1,596 for MPW ministry projects.
Special Billy Graham outreach opportunity – Have you ever dreamed of partnering with Billy Graham to help introduce people to faith in Jesus Christ? This is your opportunity—your final opportunity. In early November, 95-year-old Billy Graham will lead his final crusade ever, and it can take place in your living room! We are looking for hosts who will invite people to their home to watch a DVD presentation by Dr. Graham. Hosts will be trained to help people pray to make a commitment. We’d like to have several homes from our church participate in this important event. There will be a presentation/training here at the church on Thursday, October 17, at 7:00 pm. This is a great time to get your questions answered and find out more. Talk with elder Chuck Wallick if you are interested.
Operation Christmas Child update – A work group meets most Wednesdays at 2:00 downstairs here at church and you are invited to help with the projects. The workers could use more sturdy toys for the shoebox gifts for needy children overseas. Large size robber bands that wrap around and secure the boxes are especially needed. You can pick up a list of items and ideas on the table by the front door. Check with Beth Matanich if you have questions. We plan to send several hundred gifts!
“Welcome! Come join us.” Those words are magical to a visitor entering our church on Sunday morning and feeling a stranger. Church members already know one another and have deep friendships, and the closer members feel, the harder it is for a newcomer to fit into what feels like impenetrable conversation groups. So members and regular attenders need to take the initiative to reach out to include people: “Here, take a chair and join us!” “Would you like to sit with us in the Sanctuary?” “Come join us for some refreshments.” Please make an effort to sit with someone new each week and to actively invite others into your circle.
