Two special events for women to get away for friendship and renewal:
• Looney Ladies Retreat, September 10‒12 with Rosie Dewey at Loon Lake, 30 miles north of Spokane. Marian Russ and Rosie are inviting women from Mt. Pisgah for a couple of days of crafts, devotions on a boat, and fellowship at the Dewey summer home on the lake. There will be minimal shared expenses for food and travel, and shared accommodations. Call Rosie (509-607-6348) or Marian (206-459-4270) if you are interested—first come, first served.
• Upper County Christian Women’s Annual Retreat, 4:00 pm September 21‒3:00 pm September 22 at Camp Koinonia, Cle Elum. This brief retreat nearby features local speakers and is for women who are high school seniors and older. The cost is $50. Our church office has applications. Some scholarship help is available. September 14 registration deadline.
- The Virginia “Shorty” Sansilo memorial service will be Saturday, August 18, 2012 at noon at the Cle Elum Community Church. There will be a time of fellowship with coffee, tea, and cookies following the service.
- Every Thursday, faithful volunteers gather to tend the church landscaping. These thoughtful folks make our church property look great—and they enjoy the fellowship as they work together. Join them this week at 9:00 am on Thursday.
- Interested in national Presbyterian news? You can follow national happenings in the Presbyterian Church (USA) easily on the web:
- www.churchandworld.com/PCUSA/ provides a daily digest from many sources. It is free at first and later a small donation is requested.
- • www.layman.org offers a theologically conservative slant on church life. Pastor Berkley sometimes writes for the Layman as a guest reporter or commentator. www.pcusa.org/news/ is the denominational news site, mixing both news and promotional articles.
