THE LORD’S DAY
SONG OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION: “America, the Beautiful”
1 O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain;
for purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed his grace on thee,
and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.
2 O beautiful for pilgrim feet, whose stern impassioned stress;
a thoroughfare for freedom beat across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thy every flaw,
confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law!
3 O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,
who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine,
till all success be nobleness, and every gain divine.
4 O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years
thine alabaster cities gleam, undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed his grace on thee,
and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.

CALL TO WORSHIP: Elder Susan Colts
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers,
remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
For we know, brothers loved by God, that He has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. (uh-KAY-yuh)
For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.
For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,
and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
All – Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
.
SONG OF PRAISE: “In Thanksgiving, Let Us Praise Him”
1 From the first bright light of the morning to the last warm glow of the dusk;
Every breath we take is sacred, for it is God’s gift to us.
Refrain
In Thanksgiving let us praise him; in thanksgiving let us sing,
Songs of praise and adoration to our gracious Lord and King.
2 In the season of our plenty, in the season of our need;
We will find his grace sufficient, we will find his love complete.
[Refrain]
3 Safe with-in his hand that guides us, hidden in his healing wings;
Day by day his love provides us every good and perfect thing.
[Refrain]
.
INVOCATION: In Unison
Holy God, You are the King of kings and to You alone all nations bow in submission. We acknowledge Your sovereign power and bow our hearts in Your presence. We beseech Your favor, that You might draw us into deeper fellowship with Christ, Your Son. We pray that we might be made to walk in the Spirit and not according to the flesh. O God receive our worship, meet with us, teach us from Your word, strengthen our hearts and make the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts to be acceptable in Your sight through our rock and our redeemer, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
.
HYMN OF WORSHIP: “The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want”
1 The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
he makes me down to lie
in pastures green; he leadeth me
the quiet waters by.
2 My soul he doth restore again,
and me to walk doth make
within the paths of righteousness,
e’en for his own name’s sake.
3 Yea, though I walk through death’s dark vale,
yet will I fear none ill,
for thou art with me; and thy rod
and staff me comfort still.
4 My table thou hast furnished
in presence of my foes;
my head thou dost with oil anoint,
and my cup overflows.
5 Goodness and mercy all my life
shall surely follow me;
and in God’s house forevermore
my dwelling place shall be.
.
CONFESSING OUR SIN TOGETHER: In Unison
Father of mercies, we confess that we have sinned against You. By Your Holy Spirit, come and work repentance into our hearts. Help us to see You as You are: with outstretched arms, a loving heart, and power to save. Help us to see Jesus, the friend of sinners, and to follow Him more faithfully. As we have received Him, so strengthen us to walk in Him, depend on Him, commune with Him, and be conformed to Him. Give us an experience of Your grace that makes us bold for others, that we might joyfully tell our friends and neighbors of Your saving mercy. Amen. Please the next few moments for quiet reflection and confession of sins to God.
.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
