The season of Advent is a time to prepare ourselves for Christmas. Advent includes the four Sundays leading up to Christmas Day. We light a candle in the Advent Wreath each Sunday, reminding ourselves of what Christmas means. For Christians, Christmas itself begins Christmas Eve and runs through Epiphany, which is January 6. This is quite different from “commercial Christmas,” which is a secular sales season that begins somewhere before Halloween and halts its deluge of excess abruptly on Christmas Day. Let’s prepare for Jesus this Advent! There are still some special for Advent Daily Breads on the table in the foyer for you to use during this season.
Cookie Exchange ‒ All women are invited to a Christmas Cookie Exchange on Wednesday, December 5, here at noon. Our women are hosting the women of Calvary Episcopal Church with a soup and salad potluck. Bring soup or salad to share. For the cookie exchange, bring four dozen cookies and several copies of the recipe. Call Susan Colts (649-3572 or 674-9619) with questions.
Men’s and Women’s Groups meet separately this Tuesday at 6:30 for Bible study. The men are in Acts, meeting in the church office, and the women are studying Esther at the Wallick home, 801 W. 2nd St., Cle Elum. Join the fellowship and learning in one of the studies this week.
Fellowship Christmas Brunch – All are invited to join in the festivities and fellowship for brunch following the worship service on December 16. If you would like to help or have questions call Marian Russ (674-5741).
Christmas Eve Candle lighting Service – This is a great time to invite your friends and family to hear the gospel message of Jesus Christ. The service is at a family friendly hour of 5:00 pm.
