SONG OF PRAISE: “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”
INVOCATION:
Lord, we will sing of Your steadfast love forever. Let the heavens praise Your wonders, O Lord. For who in the skies can be compared to You? Who among the heavenly beings is like unto You? You are a God greatly to be feared, awesome above all who are around You. The heavens are Yours; the earth also. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before You. Blessed are we who walk in the light of Your face, who exult in Your name all the day. For You have placed Your faithfulness and steadfast love on us, and You have promised never to remove it. Blessed be Your name forever! Amen.

SONG OF WORSHIP: “O Lord, My Rock and My Redeemer”

CONFESSING OUR SIN TOGETHER:
Holy Father, Creator and Ruler over all, Jesus Christ, risen Master and triumphant Lord, we come to You in sorrow for our sins, and confess to You our weakness and unbelief. We have lived by our own wisdom and strength, and not by the power of Your resurrection. We have been slow to take up our cross, to own Your cause, and to share in the fellowship of Your sufferings. We have far too often lived for this world alone, and forgotten that we are now raised as citizens of the Kingdom of God. In Your mercy, forgive us. Have compassion on us and send the Holy Spirit to strengthen us, even as we recommit our hearts to You.
Please take the next few moments for quiet reflection and confession of sins to God.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Rom. 5:1-2)

THE READING OF GOD’S WORD: Job 1:6-12, 20-22
Satan Allowed to Test Job
“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. The Lord said to Satan, ‘From where have you come?’ Satan answered the Lord and said, ‘From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.’ And the Lord said to Satan, ‘Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?’ Then Satan answered the Lord and said, ‘Does Job fear God for no reason? Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.’ And the Lord said to Satan, ‘Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.’ So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.” (Job 1:6-12)
Satan Takes Job’s Property and Children
“Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, ‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.’ In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.” (Job 1:20-22)
