LITURGY
BIBLE SENTENCE: Isaiah 53: 3-5
3.He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.
4.Surely He has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed Him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
5.But He was pierced for our transgressions;
He was crushed for our iniquities;
upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with His wounds we are healed. ( Is. 53: 3-5)

CALL TO WORSHIP:
“I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.” (Ps. 27:6)
“Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!” (Ps. 32:11)
“Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; make melody to Him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. For the word of the Lord is upright, and all His work is done in faithfulness.” (Ps.33: 1–4)
“Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!” (Ps. 47:1)
“Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of His Name; give to Him glorious praise!” (Ps. 66:1–2)
“My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to You; my soul also, which You have redeemed.” (Ps. 71:23)
“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His Name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.” (Ps. 29:2)

SONG OF PRAISE: O God Beyond All Praising
INVOCATION:
Most holy and exalted God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; we come to worship You this day – to gaze upon You with eyes of faith, delighting in all that You are, in all that You do. Reveal yourself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Let us know You as our one God in three persons. Help us to grow in communing with You; in delighting in Your love, and making returns of the same through our faithful obedience; We ask it to the glory of Your name. Amen.

HYMN OF WORSHIP: “Wonderful Grace of Jesus”
.
CONFESSING OUR SIN:
Holy Father, we come now asking that You lead us in true and earnest repentance; not just through a momentary act in this service, but as a continual practice each day of our lives. May all of our life be repentance from sin coupled to faith in the gospel of Christ. For the problem is not just the occasional wrong that we do, but it is who we are; it is the corruption, idolatry, and unbelief in our inner being. We need more than reformation of conduct; we need transformation of our hearts. So, we come to You, hiding nothing, asking You to shine into every nook and cranny of our souls. Show us the things that grieve Your Spirit. Make them grieve us, as well. But shine also upon Jesus. Let us see the glory of His love and riches of His grace! Woo our hearts, that we may seek our everything in Him. Amen. Use the next few moments for quiet confession of personal sins to God.
WORDS OF COMFORT:
“With everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer. “I am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake.”

THE READING OF GOD’S WORD: Matthew 15:1-20
Traditions and Commandments
1.Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, 2. “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” 3. He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? 4. For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ 5. But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,” 6. he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God. 7. You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:
8.This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
9.in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
What Defiles a Person
10. And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: 11. it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” 12. Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” 13. He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. 14. Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” 15. But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.” 16. And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17. Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? 18. But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. 19. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. 20. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.” (Matt 15:1-20)
